New Beginnings

At long last, it feels as if even the most stubbornly cold wildernesses of Scotland have finally let go of Winter and embraced the brighter, longer days of Spring. Project:WE are doing the same; we’re excited to be shaking off the cobwebs after a quiet winter season and taking on new growth in the coming months. After a year of exciting developments, including the launch of our first ever funding programme and merchandise, we are looking forward to new projects, new adventures and new horizons.
In the spirit of new beginnings, the team at Project:WE are excited to share that we have formally relaunched in Scotland and the UK, as a space for amplifying and upholding women’s voices in the outdoors. Ultimately, our goal is to make the outdoors more accessible to women and those facing socioeconomic barriers to enjoying greenspaces. We will be sharing thoughts and writing pieces from some of the key female outdoor leaders in the industry, podcasts dedicated to capturing the female experience in the outdoors, and resources ranging from guides to books to artworks that might help our audience better engage with the wilderness. Our aim is to make the outdoors and greenspaces a more inclusive and accessible space for everyone and to overcome social barriers that may be preventing women getting outside from a young age. Ultimately, we want to create a real community of women in the UK (and beyond!) who can share their knowledge, expertise, and passion about the outdoors in a dedicated space. Whether it’s a new hobby, support for planning a trip, or you’re looking for a new adventure buddy, Project:WE is all about sharing the knowledge and starting new conversations.
To speak to this new ethos, we are launching a database of female mentors who specialise in a variety of outdoor disciplines and sports. The all-female mentorship team is made up of a group of passionate and dedicated women who are keen to help those who may need a bit of advice to get going in a particular outdoor discipline. The mentor programme provides the information and contact details for women who are passionate and experienced in their respective fields, who have a wealth of information to make it easier for you to get started with your next adventure or outdoors pursuit. We’ve made it really easy to get in touch with them all via email or social media, so don’t hesitate to drop them a line and start chatting!
As ever, if anyone would like to get involved with sharing female voices in the outdoors, we are open to sharing expeditions, trips, content, photography and best practice from women from all around the world. Just get in touch via email or social media. Over summer we will be releasing a blog series from our mentors, as well as Instagram takeovers, and possible small trips, so keep your eyes peeled.
Thanks for all your love and support so far,
The Project:WE Team x
